and which island is least expensive, are there reasons for this?

- Oahu is usually the cheapest to go to because it's a major airline hub. Some airlines route all of their flights to Hawaii through Oahu. Apple Vacations is a pretty good site to check for package deals, but if you're traveling with a group of four or more you might also want to consider booking a two or three bedroom condo and booking your flight separately. The larger condos are a pretty good deal because a two-bedroom unit doesn't cost twice as much as a one-bedroom unit. You can save money on meals by preparing some of them yourself in the condo's kitchen. If you decide to do that, check out http://www.vrbo.com.
- PleasantHolidays is another one. You can look online or at AAA. You can fly to Hawaii for about $300 from LA which is about half from last year. Oahu is cheaper simply because there are many hotels there. Tourists are getting rarer so many hotel workers from other islands are coming to Oahu for jobs.
- Hawaii doesn't offer all inclusive vacation packages like other destinations such as Jamaica, or Mexico. You can book air and hotel combo on travel websites like travelocity.com, or expedia.com. However it doesn't include any meals or any thing else. I went to Oahu last Feb. and it was pricey but it's paradise and totally worth it. We are already planning to go back to Hawaii this time to Maui or the Big Island.
- Oahu, hands down; but not all inclusive. There is a lot of tour agencies that advertise all inclusive Hawaii vacations but it usually just ends up being a packaged deal and not all inclusive. Be forewarned and know what you are getting into. Oahu may be the least expensive as explained before but they get you on the other stuff such as food prices and such. We just have a lot of hotel space that isn't getting filled right now that is making it cheap and yes all the airlines come here first before they depart to the neighboring islands. Just another local.... www.hawaii-vacation-adventures-oahu.com
